At long last, the line up for David Bowie’s High Line Festival was posted on Bowienet today. Eight musical acts will perform over the eleven day festival spanning May 9 through 19 including:
The Arcade Fire
Air
The Polyphonic Spree
Deerhoof
Daniel Johnston
Bang on a Can All Stars
The Legendary Stardust Cowboy
The Secret Machines
Five other performers and visual artists are on the list as well, with comedy by Ricky Gervais. Also, in the film category Clearview Chelsea Cinemas will have “BOWIE’S PICKS 10 Spanish Language Classics” from May 11 to 18. Since the actual 7 acre High Line Park will not be opening until 2008, the majority of the festival events will be happening at performance halls in the area such as Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Hammerstein Ballroom, Irving Plaza, the High Line Ballroom and others. Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 30th.
The post by Total Blam also mentions that David hopes to add a few more artists and “support arts” which haven’t been announced yet. It’s recommended to check HighLineFestival.com for updates, although there continues to be a wide expanse of negative space there today.

Well it’s about damn time. A mere month-and-a-half away from the start of the festival the public finally gets some news. I have to say though, an eventual total of 13 performers for an eleven day festival is pretty scanty. Most other festivals have an average of about twenty artists appearing in a single day. Glad we didn’t waste our money on plane tickets and hotel reservations since Bowie is not going to be performing.
However, I am interested in the movies he picks. They’ll probably all go on my “To See” list.

I’m sorry to hear that. 🙂
You wouldn’t love me so much if I didn’t have such unusual tastes. 😉
